The print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (09/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Atalanta want €15m (£12.9m) for Tottenham target Ruslan Malinovskyi in January.

Malinovskyi’s days at Atalanta appear to be numbered, with his current contract running out next summer (Transfermarkt).

Some reports from Italy over recent weeks have indicated that Spurs are in ‘pole position’ to win the race for the Ukrainian’s signature in January (Sport Mediaset).

However, French journalist Ignazio Genuardi revealed a few days ago that Antonio Conte’s men might have a battle on their hands for the 29-year-old, with West Ham United and Marseille also said to be keen on snapping him up.

The journalist explained, however, that Marseille might not be able to meet Atalanta’s asking price for the midfielder, and asserted that the player prefers a move to the Premier League over Ligue 1.

Gazzetta have now reported that Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have made up their minds to cash in on Malinovskyi in January as they do not expect the player to sign a new contract at the club.

The report asserts that Atalanta plan on using the funds raised from the attacking midfielder’s sale to make moves for their own transfer targets. The Serie A club have allegedly told interested clubs to pay €15m (£12.9m) for the Ukraine international.

£13m is certainly not a paltry sum, given that Malinovskyi’s contract at Bergamo runs out in the summer. Atalanta will look to get a bidding war going for the 29-year-old in January but Spurs will have a value in mind for the midfielder (potentially around £10m), which they would not be willing to cross.
