According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta have no intention of selling Tottenham target Giorgio Scalvini on the cheap in January.
Scalvini has won many admirers since breaking into Atalanta’s starting eleven last season, with the 19-year-old even winning three Italy caps this year.
Tottenham’s interest in the centre-back first emerged last month when CalcioMercatoWeb.it reported that Fabio Paratici was eyeing a move for the teenager.
The report stated that the Spurs managing director of football was hoping to pull off a double deal for Scalvini and Ruslan Malnivoksyi in January, and was preparing a combined offer of €30m-€35m (£25.8m-£30.1m) for both players.
CMW.it also added that the central defender was on the radar of several top Italian clubs, including Juventus and AC Milan.
If Gazzetta’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs will have to stump up quite a bit of cash to sign Scalvini in January. The report asserts that Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have slapped a price tag of £34m for the young defender.
Spurs Web Opinion
Given that Partici tends to keep a close eye on the best emerging talents from Italy, it is not surprising that Scalvini is on Tottenham’s radar. Perhaps, the North London club could follow the blueprint of the Udogie and Pape Sarr transfers by signing the central defender and loaning him back to Atalanta.
