The print edition of Corriere di Bergamo (19/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Tottenham’s latest proposal for Ruslan Malinovskyi falls short of the transfer fee that Atalanta are looking for.
Malinovskyi has been a bit-part player at Bergamo this season and his days at the club appear to be numbered with his current deal running out next summer (Transfermarkt).
Over recent months, reports have backed Tottenham to reignite their interest in the Ukrainian in January after missing out on him in the summer (Sport Mediaset).
CalcioMercato even reported two weeks ago that the attacking midfielder is moving ‘increasingly close’ to Tottenham, with the report adding that a fee of around €15m (£12.9m) would be enough to convince Atalanta to part ways with the 29-year-old.
Corriere di Bergamo have now claimed that Spurs are willing to offer the aforementioned €15m (£12.9m) fee for Malinovskyi, with Antonio Conte’s men said to ‘remain at the window’ while a ‘sale is being evaluated’.
However, the report adds that even though the former Genk man has fallen down Gian Piero Gasperini’s pecking order, the fee offered by Spurs is ‘not enough’ for the Serie A club.
Spurs Web Opinion
I do not think Tottenham would be willing to pay much over £13m, given that Malinovskyi will be a free agent next summer and appears unlikely to sign a new deal with Atalanta.
The Serie A club will likely be forced to lower their valuation but I would not be surprised if this deal drags on until the final few days of the January transfer window.
