According to the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (20/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham face quite a bit of competition for Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini.
Scalvini has gone from strength to strength since breaking into Atalanta’s senior side last season and the teenager has even been capped three times for Italy this year.
The centre-back, who has also operated as a defensive midfielder on occasions, was first mooted as a target for Spurs last month when CMW.it claimed Fabio Paratici was eyeing a double deal for him and his Atalanta teammate Ruslan Malnivoksyi.
The report added that the North London club faced competition from Juventus and AC Milan for Scalvini.
Gazzetta have now backed up Tottenham’s interest in the teenager but they state that the centre-back has also captured the attention of other big-name Premier League clubs.
The report adds that the competition for Scalvini is ‘fearsome’ and that Inter Milan are trying to jump ahead of other suitors in the race for the defender.
Gazzetta state it would take an offer of over €40m (£35m) to lure the Italy international away from Atalanta.
Spurs Web Opinion
No one would be surprised that Paratici is keeping an eye on Scalvini, given how impressively the teenager has developed over the last 12 months. Perhaps, the Spurs managing director could follow his tried and tested formula of singing the youngster and loaning him back out to Atalanta.
