InterLive have claimed that Tottenham could launch an offer for Atalanta centre-back Giorgio Scalvini when the transfer window opens in January.

Scalvini is rated by many as being one of the best young centre-backs in Serie A, with the teenager being capped three times for Italy this year.

CalcioMercatoWeb.it were the first to report on Tottenham’s interest in the 19-year-old, with the publication stating last month that Fabio Paratici could complete a double deal for the defender and his Atalanta teammate Ruslan Malinovskyi.

Gazzetta dello Sport reported a couple of days ago that Atalanta are keen to hold on to Scalvini and it would take an offer of around £34m to prize him away from Bergamo.

InterLive have now backed the Lilywhites to push ahead with a move for the young centre-back in January. The report states that Antonio Conte is keen on making reinforcements to his backline in the winter window, with Scalvini being one of the players the Spurs boss has identified.

It is revealed that the Atalanta star has been on Inter’s wishlist ‘for months’ but Spurs could now make an offer of €40m (£35m) for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

Scalvini would be a smart replacement for Japhet Tanganga as the 19-year-old can play in the middle of a back three as well as at right centre-back – two positions where Spurs lack quality cover. The Atalanta star would be a typical Paratici signing, given his high ceiling.
