Son Heung-min has admitted that he was delighted when Richarlison hit the back of the net after the struggles his teammate has endured of late.

Richarlison had a tough start to the season both for club and country, with the forward even being pictured in tears on the bench for Brazil last week.

The 26-year-old explained a few days ago that he has been going through a challenging time in his personal life and admitted that he plans to seek ‘psychological help’ (Globo Esporte).

The former Everton man certainly had a smile on his face yesterday evening on the back of his heroics against Sheffield United.

Richarlison equalised with a well-directed header in the 108th minute before setting up Dejan Kulusevski’s match-winner two minutes later.

Heung-min Son is over the moon for Richarlison

According to various reports, the forward was mobbed by many of his Spurs teammates after the final whistle, with Son even seen pushing the Brazilian forward during the celebrations so that he could take in the accolades from the south stand (Football.London).

When asked about Richarlison’s contribution, the Tottenham captain said (via Fabrizio Romano): “Seeing Richarlison score felt better than me scoring!

“Richarlison has had difficulties since last week, and I’d been thinking about how I could help him. It was unfortunate that he was blaming himself due to bad luck and other reasons.”

It is for this reason that Son is such a fantastic captain. The South Korean not only leads by example but he is extremely selfless and empathetic towards others.

Not a lot of players would have said this and acted in this manner towards a player who is essentially his main competitor for a place in the starting eleven.
