Fabio Paratici has praised Fraser Forster and revealed that the goalkeeper has been very helpful behind the scenes since arriving at Tottenham this summer.

Forster was the second of the seven signings that Spurs made during the summer transfer window, with the experienced goalkeeper joining the club on a free transfer after his contract with Southampton ran out.

The 34-year-old, who has been signed as Hugo Lloris’ understudy, is yet to make his debut for the Lilywhites but seems to have already settled in well at Tottenham.

Last week, Forster was captured on camera going over to sit next to Son Heung-min and consoling the South Korean, who cut a dejected figure on the bench after he was taken off during the 2-1 win over Fulham.

Paratici has now lavished praise on the England international, not only for his goalkeeping prowess but also for his help around the training ground.

The Tottenham managing director of football told Spurs TV: “Fraser is someone who has played a lot of Premier League matches, Champions League matches, national team matches.

“He is a guy who has a lot of enthusiasm, he helps everyone a lot and will be very helpful for us in the group. He has shown in the past that he is a great goalkeeper.”

The second-choice goalkeeper is an extremely specific role that requires the right kind of personality. You need to be a selfless and professional individual, who pushes your teammates on even though you are not likely to get much game time.

Joe Hart, despite his flaws as a goalkeeper, had the right mindset for the role, as did Michel Vorm. While it is still early days for Forster at Spurs, he also appears to be of a similar mould to those two.
