In fact, the publication goes on to add that the Ligue 1 giants would even consider loaning out the former Barca star in January if Enrique green-lights the move.

The report states that if Mbappe leaves the French club, they would be prepared to go ‘even bigger’ for Kane.

In fact, one source close to the situation is quoted as saying: “Whatever they were going to offer the player (Kane) before, they’d double it.”

It is alleged that such a bid would meet the £100m valuation that Daniel Levy has set for his star man and would force a response from Bayern.

The Independent add that while the German club are ‘extremely confident’ they can win the race for the England captain, the Parisians also believe they can still push through a deal for the 29-year-old.

The one thing that will probably scupper’s PSG’s chances is that Kane seemingly has his heart set on a switch to Bayern Munich. The striker has all the power at the moment, given his contract situation.

So, even if Levy might prefer to sell to PSG over Bayern, the German club are in the driving seat unless the Ligue 1 giants can convince the striker about the project in Parc des Prices.

Perhaps Kane feels that he would have a much better shot at winning the Champions League at Bayern than he would at PSG.

However, the latter club could well be prepared to offer a bigger fee than the Bundesliga champions.

Ultimately, unless Bayern stump up close to £100m (which does not seem likely at the moment), Kane would probably stay put at Tottenham.

However, I do wonder if Ange Postecoglou would prefer to sign a more mobile frontman who can press incessantly in the event that Kane departs. Richarlison, in many respects, seems like the ideal number nine for the Australian.

I would not be opposed to the idea of cashing in on Kane this summer and giving the funds to Postecoglou to rebuild the squad.

However, I think it is highly unlikely that the striker would consider moving to France.

It now appears increasingly likely that Ange Postecoglou is going to be appointed as Spurs’ next head coach, with The Athletic reporting on Sunday that the Celtic boss is now ‘close’ to taking over in N17.

The news has received a mixed reception among the Tottenham fan base, with some excited about the football that the Australian can get the team playing while others are questioning why the club have gone for someone who is unproven at the top level.

Among the various candidates who have been linked with the Spurs hot seat over the past couple of months, the biggest name and the one that got the fan base the most excited was Julian Nagelsmann.

However, Tottenham ruled out an approach for the German about a month ago, insisting that they do not see him as a good fit (Evening Standard).

That being said, some other sources have suggested that the 35-year-old might have been the one who ruled himself out of the running owing to doubts over the club’s structure (Daily Mail).

The Times had hinted that Tottenham could reopen talks with the German, although that now seems very unlikely with the Postecoglou developments.

If Romano’s latest update is to be believed, Nagelsmann has now emerged as a contender to replace Christophe Galtier at PSG.

The journalist took to social media to reveal that the Parisians have had internal discussions about the former Bayern Munich boss, who is one of the options they are considering as their search for a new head coach reaches its ‘crucial stages’.

It is anybody’s guess why it is that Tottenham’s pursuit of Nagelsmann fell through.

However, I do get the feeling that if Spurs really wanted the German, they could have got him as long as they were willing to accept his demands regarding the director of football and control of transfers.

However, the North London club were perhaps not 100 per cent sold on Nagelsmann due to the circumstances of his exit from Bayern and the fact that his backroom staff look like they will not be following him to his next club. 

Levy and co might have also had doubts about appointing another big-name manager who sees the job as being slightly beneath him.

They might have prioritised hiring a head coach who would see the position as the pinnacle of his career so far.

Ugarte appears to be one of the hottest properties on the market this summer, with multiple publications revealing over recent months that Tottenham are one of the clubs who are eyeing a move for the midfielder (O Jogo via Sport Witness).

Until this week, it seemed as though Tottenham’s main competition for the Uruguayan could come from Liverpool (Record) but the situation appears to have changed over the last couple of days.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Thursday that PSG had entered the race for Ugarte’s signature and that they had already reached out to the midfielder’s entourage regarding a switch to Paris.

The same journalist later named Chelsea and Pochettino as fellow fans of the midfielder.

Aouna has now taken to social media to reveal that the Ligue 1 giants have submitted an offer of €60m (£52.6m) for the 22-year-old.

The journalist added that Chelsea and Newcastle United have also informed Sporting that they would be prepared to pay a similar amount for the midfielder.

Ugarte appears to be one of a long list of players who Tottenham are seemingly set to miss out on because of their inability to quickly sort out their sporting director and managerial situation.

The longer we wait to make those appointments, the harder it is going to be to have a productive summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has shone both domestically and in Europe this season and his displays have allegedly attracted interest from the Premier League.

O Jogo (29/04/23 via Sport Witness) claimed last month that Spurs are expected to push ahead with an offer for Manuel Ugarte once the club have a new head coach in place, with the midfielder said to have a release clause of €60m (£52.6m) in his current contract.

It has since emerged that Liverpool have also entered the race for the Uruguayan’s signature, with Record even claiming two weeks ago that the Reds had moved into pole position to snap up the player.

If Romano’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs might also have competition to contend with from PSG for Ugarte’s signature this summer.

The journalist took to social media to reveal that the midfielder is on the Parisian’s wishlist and that the Ligue 1 giants have already discussed the terms of a deal with Sporting.

Romano adds that PSG have also reached out to Ugarte’s camp and are now ‘well informed’ of his situation ahead of the summer transfer window. In his latest report, Romano added that Chelsea and Pochettino are now also keen on the player.

I suspect Ugarte was someone Fabio Paratici identified as a target.

So, it remains to be seen if the Uruguayan would still be featuring prominently on Tottenham’s wishlist now that the Italian is no longer at Spurs.

The North London club are unlikely to finalise any plans for the summer until a new head coach and a sporting director are in place.
