Harry Kane has admitted that he continues to keep a close eye on the Premier League and added that he is delighted with the start that Tottenham have made to the season.
The general consensus among pundits was that Spurs would struggle without Kane this season but the evidence so far suggests that the Lilywhites have improved as a side under Ange Postecoglou despite losing their talisman.
Tottenham are still unbeaten in the Premier League with four wins and a draw from their first five games, sitting just two points behind league-leaders Manchester City.
Kane has made an impressive start to life in Bavaria, having scored four goals in the first four Bundesliga games of the campaign.
The striker will come up against familiar opposition on Wednesday, with Bayern Munich hosting Manchester United in their Champions League opener, with the Red Devils seemingly in disarray heading into that game.
Harry Kane is still keeping an eye on Tottenham
When asked if he has been following what is going on in Old Trafford this season, Kane told CBS Sports: “I’m someone who follows most football in general so [I’m] always watching the highlights of the games back in the Premier League.
“The Premier League is something I’ve been watching my whole life and will be watching the rest of my life and always keep an eye on it, so it’s been good to watch. Tottenham have started the season well, which is great!”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is a little startling that some fans on social media are taking offence to these comments from Kane. That is perhaps because some aggregators have wrongly suggested that the question put to the striker was about Spurs and it thus seems like he is avoiding mentioning the club.
That is evidently not the truth. I find it a little childish how some Spurs fans are reading between the lines of every single comment that Kane makes, almost like they are desperately trying to find a reason to hate him.
The 30-year-old has been a fantastic servant to Tottenham and the best player we have had in the Premier League era and he ensured the club got a transfer fee for him this summer when he could have left on a free next year. I have nothing but respect for Kane and I am rooting for him to win the Champions League.
