Harry Kane has insisted that becoming the Premier League’s record goalscorer was never really at the top of his mind and that he was always focused on winning silverware.
Some might have thought that Kane would not want to leave the Premier League this summer now that he is only 47 goals away from breaking Alan Shearer’s record.
However, the former Tottenham man insisted that Shearer’s goal record was never really something that influenced his thinking as he was always focused on winning team honours rather than individual accolades.
The England captain remarked that he ultimately wanted to get better and challenge for the biggest trophies in the game, which is the main reason behind his switch to Bayern Munich.

🗣️ “I don’t think it was something that I was thinking about. There was a lot of noise around it. Those individual records have never been something that I’ve solely focused on.”

Spurs Web Opinion
While the PL goals record might not be Kane’s priority, I am convinced that it still matters a lot to the striker. I suspect that he is confident that he will be able to return to England in a few years and still have time to break that record.
