Aston Villa have completed the deal to sign Stewart Downing from Middlesbrough.
Tottenham Hotspur had been heavily linked with a move for the England winger for a couple of years, but Boro were unwilling to sell while they had Premiership status.
The signing of Downing will now fuel speculation that Villa’s Ashley Young is on the verge of a move to Tottenham.
