The agent of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez is set to meet with one of the clubs who are interested in signing him this summer, according to TyC Sports presenter Gason Edul.

TyC Sports reported earlier this month that Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea are all keen on the World Cup winner, who caught the eye with his performances for Argentina at the tournament in Qatar.

Tottenham are expected to be on the lookout for a new number one this summer with Hugo Lloris tipped to end his ten-year association with the north Londoners and has been the subject of a firm offer from Saudi Arabia that would at least treble his £100,000-a-week contract (The Times).

Lloris may have already played his last game for the club having been ruled out for the rest of the season with a thigh injury he sustained during the 6-1 thrashing at Newcastle United.

Martinez is said to be considering his future at Villa Park with the 30-year-old not short of potential suitors ahead of next season (The Mirror).

Villa signed the goalkeeper from Arsenal in September 2020 for £17million (Sky Sports).

Edul told Tyc Sports television broadcast (23/5/23): “I understand that in the next days there will be a meeting between Emi Martínez’s agent and one of the interested clubs in him.”

Tottenham certainly need a new goalkeeper this summer with Lloris expected to be on his way out if he receives the news that he will no longer be first choice for next season.

David Raya is another goalkeeper who has been linked and he impressed, especially during the second half of Brentford’s 3-1 win in N17 last weekend.
