Aston Villa are set to challenge Tottenham for Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou this summer, according to AS’ latest update.

The report states that the Europa League final against Roma, in which Yassine Bounou saved two penalties and became a hero, is expected to be his final game in a Sevilla shirt.

Even though he has two years left to run on his contract at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, the La Liga club will likely listen to offers for him, with clubs from the Premier League expected to test the waters.

Tottenham enquired about Bounou’s availability

It is explained that Tottenham have had their eye on Bounou for many months and even enquired about his availability during the winter transfer window, with the North London club expected to reignite their interest in the 32-year-old this summer.

AS assert that Spurs could face competition from Villa, with Unai Emery’s men expected to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper as Emiliano Martinez’s days at the club are numbered.

The report adds that Bounou is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, and that Sevilla will not consider any offers less than €20m-€25m (£17.2m-£21.5m) for the Morocco international.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is fairly clear based on various reports over the last few weeks that Bounou is not one of the names at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Hugo Lloris, which is not surprising, given the Sevilla star’s age.

Tottenham appear to be looking within the Premier League for a new number one, with Raya and Pickford seemingly their preferred targets.
