Football Transfers have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle Aston Villa and Everton for the services of Manchester United’s Harry Maguire this summer.

Over recent days, it has been reported by both The Daily Mail and 90 min that Tottenham could make a move for Maguire after Ange Postecoglou gave the green light to the North London club to sign a centre-back.

The Mail asserted that the Lilywhites have already ‘made checks’ on the Man Utd star’s situation and are ‘well placed’ to make a move for him.

The publication claimed that while the Red Devils were ready to sell the defender, the England international is keeping an open mind about his future heading into the summer transfer window.

Three-Way Battle for Maguire

If Football Transfers’ latest update is to be believed, Maguire has actually already made up his mind to leave Old Trafford this summer.

This is because the 30-year-old wants to play regular football next season in order to ensure he keeps his position in Gareth Southgate’s England starting eleven ahead of next summer’s European Championship.

The outlet claims that it is not just Tottenham who have their eye on the former Leicester City man, with the Villans and the Toffees also registering their interest in the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even though we have not qualified for Europe for the first time since 2009, there is no doubt that we have more pulling power than the likes of Villa and Everton.

So, if we wanted Maguire, we would likely be able to get him.

However, Postecoglou’s sides play very high defensive lines and I am not sure if the Man Utd star has the recovery pace needed to play in such a system.
