The Sun have revealed that Arsenal could challenge Tottenham Hotspur in their pursuit of Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.
Earlier this week, we relayed a report from The Daily Mail, which claimed that Spurs are eyeing Luiz as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is expected to complete a move to Atletico Madrid over the coming weeks.
The report added that it is unclear if Unai Emery would be willing to let the Brazilian go, who was a fixture in his starting lineup last season.
Arsenal could also enter the race for Luiz with Spurs
The Sun have now also backed up the claim that Luiz is seen by Tottenham as a potential replacement for Hojbjerg, stating that the Dane is not a natural fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play.
The report suggests, however, that Tottenham could have a competition to contend with from their North London rivals for the Villa star’s signature.
It is revealed that the Gunners tried in vain to prize away Luiz from Villa Park last summer and could be about to try again to sign the 26-year-old this window.

I do get the feeling that Conor Gallagher is Postecoglou’s top target for the central midfield role but I believe that Luiz might be a better fit for the squad if we lose Hojbjerg as we do not have too many options apart from Bissouma for the number six role.
