Tottenham Hotspur enter their away fixture against Brighton today off the back of three straight defeats in all competitions.
The Lilywhites dropped three points away to Watford after leading with 15 minutes to go, repeating the trick against Inter Milan in the Champions League, this time leading on the 85th.
Spurs also lost 2-1 to Prem rivals Liverpool, a major dent in their credentials for the crown this season.
Many people have put Spurs’ bad form down to fatigue from a long 2017/18 season, and a gruelling World Cup.
Tottenham had nine first team players involved in the semi finals in Russia, meaning that they only had a couple of weeks rest before pre-season began.
BBC pundit Dion Dublin believes that the main issue for Tottenham is a lack of competition for places in North London, despite the fact that Spurs have had the same team for the past three seasons.
Dublin said: “When you come back from a break, whether you’ve been at the World Cup or you haven’t, you come back as a Spurs player and think ‘right, who have we got, who’s coming?’.
“Nobody has come in, so you’re thinking, ‘right, well I’ve got my place.’ You don’t do that consciously, but you think ‘I’ve got no pressure’.
“You look over your shoulder and sometimes you’ve got two or three players who want your shirt. It makes you go, ‘right, I’ve got to [play well].”
Has Dublin got a point, do Spurs need new signings to push the team forward?
