Tottenham finally put an end to their losing streak against Brighton on the south coast yesterday, securing a 2-1 win and all three point in the Premier League.
This win sees them pull clear of both Manchester United, who drew to Wolves yesterday, and Arsenal, who play Everton later today.
Before Brighton, Spurs had lost games against Watford, Liverpool and Inter Milan, leading two of these matches close to the final whistle.
Harry Kane both opened the scoring, and ended his mini goal drought yesterday evening as he tucked away a penalty after Trippier’s free kick was blocked by the hand of Glenn Murray.
Erik Lamela then came off the bench to match it four goals in four Prem appearances for him, doubling Tottenham’s lead with a beautifully guided finish.
It looked to be a much-needed comfortable win, and Tottenham had chances to make it 3-0 before the final whistle, but in typical Spurs fashion, there was a late defensive scare.
Knockaert pulled one back for Brighton two minutes into injury time, having yet another clear opportunity to curl an equaliser home just one minute after.
All of Tottenham’s hard work could have been undone in an instant, which showed across manager Pochettino’s face.
