The Daily Mail have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur see Brighton starlet Evan Ferguson as a potential heir to Harry Kane but the Segulls are determined to hold on to the youngster.
The speculation over Kane’s future shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, with the striker seemingly not close to penning a new contract at Tottenham.
The Daily Mirror reported this week that even if the England captain does not sign a new deal at Spurs, Daniel Levy is expected to demand over £100m for Tottenham’s talisman in the summer.
The report added that Bayern Munich would not be willing to pay that kind of fee, which gives Manchester United an advantage in the pursuit of the 29-year-old.
The publication asserted that the Red Devils have made the Spurs star their top priority ahead of the summer.
The Mail have now asserted that Spurs also have to contend with interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid for Kane, with the two clubs now said to be ‘lurking’ around the striker.
Amidst fears that they might lose their superstar in the summer, Tottenham have allegedly identified Ferguson as an heir apparent to their record goal scorer.
The 18-year-old has impressed since breaking into the Seagulls’ senior side this season, having scored eight goals across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).
The Mail assert that despite interest from Tottenham, Brighton are hopeful that Ferguson will pen to paper on a new contract at the Amex Stadium.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham’s interest in Ferguson is understandable as the 18-year-old looks destined to evolve into a top-class striker over the coming years.
However, I do not think the interest has anything to do with concerns over Kane’s future.
In the event that Spurs do lose Kane this summer, the club would have to replace him with a couple of experienced forwards who are proven at the highest level such as Ivan Toney and Dusan Vlahovic.
