Pundit Chris Sutton has shared his predictions for the weekend’s Premier League action, and told the BBC that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur beat Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

Tottenham are currently in fifth place in the Premier League, but as teams around them continue to win, Spurs have stuttered of late against Southampton and Everton.

The Lilywhites are three points behind both Man United and Newcastle, although both of those sides also have a game in hand on Tottenham. Cristian Stellini’s side really cannot afford a slip-up this weekend.

It was a frustrating performance yet again at times for Tottenham against Brighton, but some class finishing from Kane and Son, as well as a helping hand from the referee, secured all three points.

Bournemouth are in decent form coming into the fixture, with three wins from their past five fixtures. They are currently three points clear of the relegation zone and will want to extend that if possible.

Sutton said: “I know I have still only had Bournemouth down to win one game all season but they continue to really impress me.

“The Cherries fully deserved their 1-0 victory at Leicester last week and they could easily have won by an even bigger margin.

“The Foxes are in a mess at the moment but the Cherries are well-organised and they are scrapping for everything. They have got a bit about them too – Philip Billing is having an outstanding season in midfield, and has scored some big goals.

“I really don’t know what to make of Tottenham, though. I thought they would lose to Brighton last week, and they really should have lost – but they got away with it in a big way.

“My gut is telling me that Bournemouth are capable of getting something here, but then Spurs do have Harry Kane and they are still in the hunt for a Champions League place too.

“They will probably find a way of winning this one, even if they don’t deserve it.”

Sutton’s prediction: 2-0

This is a must-win fixture for Tottenham. All games are hard at this stage of the season, but a home tie against Bournemouth should be three points for anyone who realistically wants Champions League football.
