According to Il Messaggero (as relayed by Tutto Juve), Lazio may look to poach Tottenham duo Leonardo Gabbanini and Lorenzo Giani.
The report states that Maurizio Sarri wants Lazio to restructure their recruitment department and believes that Gabbanini and Giani would help the club to do so.
Both men arrived at Tottenham during the Fabio Paratici era, with Gabbanini joining as a chief scout from Watford in August of last year.
The 43-year-old has extensive experience in Italian football, having previously worked as Udinese’s chief scout and served as a youth coach at Fiorentina and Sampdoria.
Giani, meanwhile, worked as a scout for Paratici at Juventus and followed the Italian to North London.
Spurs could lose Gabbanini and Giani to Lazio
If Il Messaggero’s latest update is to be believed, Lazio seemingly believe that the two men could now be convinced to leave N17 following Paratici’s departure.
The publication asserts that Sarri has put the names of Gabbanini and Giani ‘on the table’ as the former Chelsea boss believes that the pair may help the club unearth young talent, who could be nurtured at the Stadio Olimpico.
Spurs Web Opinion
Gabbanini has a prominent role at Tottenham and there is no indication that the club want to replace him.
However, perhaps his position, along with Giani’s, might be thrown into doubt if a new sporting director comes through the door as the newcomer might want to fill those positions with the people he trusts.
