After an indifferent run of form, two comprehensive results with clean sheets are just what Spurs need ahead of a trip to in-form Everton. The Toffees may have lost in Lisbon midweek but since they came from behind to snatch a draw when these two sides met at Goodison back in December, David Moyes’ side have lost only once in the league and that was a derby game. That run has included wins over Chelsea, Man City, Man United at home and draws away at the Emirates and Stamford Bridge. So unless their confidence has been seriously rocked by their disappointing Europa League exit, Harry Redknapp knows his side have a tough few hours ahead of them on Sunday.

First Goalscorer

Roman Pavlyuchenko – 11/2
Luka Modric – 10/1
David Bentley – 14/1
Tom Huddlestone – 20/1
Gareth Bale – 25/1

The midfield should be a very interesting battle with both sides containing players who like to get the ball down and pass, so we should be in for an entertaining affair with two teams trying to play constructive attacking football.

The potential absence of Defoe could actually work in Tottenham’s favour. Could. Despite his goal scoring exploits this season, he can suffer from a touch of the Andy Coles. Pavlyuchenko is the best finisher Redknapp has at his disposal and Defoe’s injury could be just the opportunity the Russian needs to prove what he’s capable of. Four goals in two games should make him a certainty to start in this one and he’s 11/2 to open the scoring and 11/1 to grab a third straight brace. He’s done a lot of talking off the pitch in recent weeks and I fancy him to continue backing it up on the pitch.

Winning Margin

Tottenham to win by exactly 1 goal – 3/1
Tottenham to win by exactly 2 goals – 9/2
Tottenham to win by exactly 3 goals – 11/1
Tottenham to win by exactly 4 goals – 22/1

This is a tricky game to call but with the defence playing well, Modric back to full fitness, Pavlyuchenko leading the line and home advantage, Everton could see their good run come to an end in London. Not without a good old scrap first though.

Tottenham 2-1 at 7/1. Over 2.5 goals at evens. Pavlyuchenko to score in 90 mins and Spurs to win at 3/1.
