Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Giovani Lo Celso will miss Tottenham’s trip to Burnley this weekend through injury.

The Argentine midfielder was handed his first start of the season this week against Fulham in the Carabao Cup but only lasted 45 minutes before being replaced by Dane Scarlett.

It has now been confirmed that Lo Celso was removed due to injury, after only earning his first Premier League minutes of the season off the bench last week against Bournemouth.

Postecoglou sat down for a press conference this afternoon on deadline day ahead of the trip to Turf Moor. Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the clash against Vincent Kompany’s side.

Lo Celso the only new injury for Tottenham

He revealed that Lo Celso has a minor strain, but it is nothing to worry about and he should recover during the upcoming international break.

He said (Football London): “From the other night, the only one who is missing is Gio Lo Celso. He got a quad strain which is why we took him off at half-time. Nothing too serious but with the international break coming [there’s time to recover].”
