Football Insider have claimed that Fulham are now ready to intensify talks with Marco Silva over a new contract amidst interest from Tottenham.
Soon after Antonio Conte’s sacking last month, Silva was reported to be one of the names on Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Antonio Conte (The Athletic).
However, the situation appears to have changed completely since, with Julian Nagelsmann now said to be at the top of Tottenham’s shortlist.
According to The Independent, Spurs are expected to try and persuade the German to take over, failing which they would turn their attention to Feyenoord boss Arne Slot.
Football Insider have now revealed that Tottenham did show interest in Silva, although the North London club did not make any concrete approach for the Portuguese coach.
The report adds that the 45-year-old is set to run into the final year of his contract this June and that Fulham are keen to tie him down to a long-term deal to ward off any interest.
The outlet asserts that the Craven Cottage hierarchy will intensify talks with Silva at the end of the season, with the West London club hopeful of reaching an agreement with their head coach.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is clear that Silva was never really a serious option for Spurs at any time.
While the Portuguese coach has done an excellent job at Craven Cottage, his spells at Hull City and Everton would likely deter any top clubs from considering an approach for the 45-year-old.
