TEAMtalk have revealed that the collapse of Arne Slot’s move to Tottenham is now causing panic at Fulham, with the Cottagers said to be concerned that the North London club could come after their head coach.
Soon after Antonio Conte’s sacking back in March, Marco Silva was reported to be one of the names on Tottenham’s wishlist to replace the Italian (The Athletic).
Football Insider subsequently reported at the end of April that while Spurs did explore a move for the Portuguese coach, they did not make any concrete approach for him.
TEAMtalk have now suggested that Fulham are concerned that Tottenham could once again turn their gaze to Silva, who has guided the West London club to an impressive tenth-placed finish this season.
The publication states that with the 45-year-old set to enter the final year of his contract this June, the Cottagers are now working desperately to tie him down to a new deal.
TEAMtalk also quotes Graeme Bailey about the situation, with the journalist revealing that Fulham is indeed concerned about the fact that their head coach has been linked with the West Ham and Spurs jobs.
Bailey has told the outlet: “Fulham insist they are not worried about Silva and are confident that they are going to tie him down to a new deal.
“However, whilst confidence is there – it cannot be argued they are worried for as long as a new deal goes unsigned.
“They know West Ham are looking at alternatives to David Moyes and Silva is on their list. The Portuguese has also been talked about at Tottenham.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I do not think Spurs would have ever really seriously considered a move for Silva.
With the Slot deal having collapsed, it appears likely that the North London club would turn their attention to one of Ange Postecoglou, Ruben Amorim or Luis Enrique.
