Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Bournemouth remain ‘really reluctant’ to let Lloyd Kelly join Tottenham Hotspur before the 11 pm deadline.

This morning, The Athletic reported that Tottenham submitted a £20m offer for Kelly, which was turned down by Bournemouth.

The publication explained that the lack of time to be able to find a suitable replacement was one of the reasons why the Cherries turned down the bid.

A couple of hours later, The Times claimed on their live transfer blog that Spurs had not yet called time on their pursuit of the centre-back and were expected to return with an improved offer for the player.

Deal looking difficult for Lloyd Kelly to Tottenham

Gold has now offered a discouraging update on the matter, revealing that a deal for Kelly now looks ‘difficult’ for Spurs to complete before the window slams shut.

The journalist explains that as things stand, the south coast club are ‘really reluctant’ to let the 24-year-old leave. Gold adds that Tottenham would also need to get another centre-back out of the door before making a move for the Bournemouth man.

While Eric Dier now looks unlikely to leave, I still expect Spurs to offload Davinson Sanchez over the coming hours.

Signing a quality centre-back this late in the window was always going to prove difficult and the North London club would have identified alternatives if a deal for Kelly does not materialise.
