According to the latest reports from France, rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Serhou Guirassy would prefer to join Rennes this summer.
Despite Amiens being relegated from the French top flight on a points-per-game basis, Guirassy has been one of the most impressive strikers in Ligue 1 this season.
The former Cologne forward has managed nine goals in 23 Ligue 1 appearances (transfermarkt.com) and has proven a menace for the opposition with his ability to hold up the ball and bring others into play.
Spurs have been tipped to make an approach for the 24-year-old when the transfer market opens (Daily Mail), while Arsenal and Chelsea are also said to be keen on his services (The Express).
However, RMC Sport claim that Rennes have identified Guirassy as the man to replace M’Baye Niang, who is Marseille bound.
It is said that a move to Rennes appeals to the Amiens star despite interest from English clubs with the striker attracted at the prospect of playing Champions League football next season at Roazhon Park.
Spurs Web Opinion
I would expect Guirassy to be on the list of our striker targets this summer as reports indicate that we are looking to the French market for our singings. Additionally, the 24-year-old also fits the bill in terms of what we need – a back to Harry Kane who can also provide us with a plan B.
However, it is anybody’s guess how further up the list of priorities Guirassy is for us, with Spurs also being heavily linked with the likes of Arkadiusz Milik and Vedat Muriqi. My gut feeling is that the Amiens star is a fall back option in case we are not able to land our primary striker targets.
