The Sun have claimed that Brentford goalkeeper David Raya is willing to make a move across London to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Times reported a couple of days ago that Spurs are now expected to press ahead with their transfer plans following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou.

The publication added that a new goalkeeper to replace Hugo Lloris is one of the top things on the club’s agenda, with Raya being the man the Lilywhites have their eye on.

The Fight For David Raya

This has now been backed up by The Sun, who state that the Spaniard has now emerged as Tottenham’s ‘first choice’ to take over the gloves from their captain.

The report explains that Tottenham are not the only ones to have their eye on Raya, who is also thought to be on Manchester United’s radar.

It is asserted that Spurs are ‘desperate’ to win the race for the 27-year-old, with the Brentford number one willing to make a move to North London.

However, the outlet adds that there remains a significant distance between Tottenham and the Bees, with Thomas Frank’s men wanting £40m for Raya while Spurs are only willing to pay £20m.

It is clear that Brentford are merely paying hardball to get as big a fee as possible as the West London club have already signed a replacement for the Spaniard in the form of Mark Flekken.

The Bees would likely be hoping that they can get a bidding war going for Raya between the likes of Spurs, Man Utd and potentially Chelsea, and thus drive his price up.
