Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now locked in talks with Brentford regarding a final fee for David Raya.
Multiple outlets over the last few weeks have reported that Raya was Tottenham’s number one target to take over the gloves from Hugo Lloris.
This included a report from The Sun on June 5 which claimed that even though the Spaniard was willing to move to Spurs, the Lilywhites are only willing to pay £20m for him while Brentford are demanding £40m.
It was subsequently reported by The Times on Sunday that Tottenham had struck a full agreement on personal terms with Raya but the publication added that the Bees are sticking to their demands of £40m, which Ange Postecoglou’s men had no intention of paying.

Signing Raya would represent a solid start to the window as not only is the 27-year-old one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League but he is also one of the best in the division with the ball at his feet, which would make him a perfect fit for Postecoglou’s style of play.
