Despite reports suggesting Tottenham Hotspur are the frontrunners to sign David Raya this summer, it has emerged that three other Premier League clubs have also contacted Brentford to register interest in the Spanish stopper.
Tottenham are in need of a new number one goalkeeper ahead of next season, as it has become clear that current number one and club captain Hugo Lloris will be moving on (Telegraph).
Raya has been continuously linked with a move to the Lilywhites, and reports over the weekend claimed Spurs had now reached an agreement over personal terms with the Brentford star (The Times).
The latest from PA news agency (via The Independent) this week went as far as to suggest Tottenham Hotspur were the only club in active discussions with Raya and put the North London club in ‘pole position’ to secure the signing.
Spurs may now have competition for David Raya
However, a new report from The Athletic claims three other Premier League clubs have made Brentford aware of their interest in the 27-year-old goalkeeper.
The report does back up the claim that Spurs are keen on the Spanish keeper and that they have identified David Raya as the man to replace Lloris.
However, Tottenham are not on the same page when it comes to Brentford’s £40 million valuation of the player, which could open the door for other clubs.
It is unclear who the other three teams are that have been in touch with Brentford at this stage.
Meanwhile, Brentford are apparently happy to stand firm on the £40 million fee, even if it means losing Raya for free next year.

It is hard to know what reports to believe during the transfer window, but I would be very surprised if we were the only club looking at Raya.
We need to get this deal wrapped up as soon as possible, as Raya is a great keeper who would be the perfect replacement for Lloris and provide our squad with some stability.
