The Athletic have revealed that Tottenham have identified AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan as an alternative to David Raya.

Multiple outlets over the past couple of weeks have reported that Raya is Tottenham’s number-one choice to take over the gloves from Hugo Lloris and that the Spaniard is open to a switch to North London (The Sun).

The Times revealed on Sunday that Tottenham had even struck an agreement over personal terms with the goalkeeper but the publication made it clear that the Lilywhites are yet to agree on a fee with Brentford and had no intention of meeting the Bees’ £40m asking price.

Fabrizio Romano also took to social media to confirm this morning that the 27-year-old had agreed a contract with Spurs, with the journalist adding that the Lilywhites are now in talks with Thomas Frank’s men over a fee.

Spurs have Raya alternative goalkeepers on their list

If The Athletic’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs would be willing to turn their attention to other alternatives if a move for Raya cannot be agreed.

The publication reveals that one of the other names on the Lilywhites’ radar is Maignan, who has three years left to run on his contract at the San Siro (Transfermartk).

However, the report adds that the Frenchman would cost even more than the Brentford number one this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do expect Tottenham to get the deal for Raya over the line, partly because there does not seem to be much competition for the Brentford man, with Man Utd seemingly wanting Pickford and Chelsea appearing to pursue Onana.

Brentford would have no choice but to bring down their asking price for the 27-year-old over the coming weeks.
