The Telegraph have revealed that Chelsea considered a move for Hugo Lloris earlier this summer before deciding to look elsewhere for a new goalkeeper.
Even after a long summer of transfer rumours, Hugo Lloris remains a Spurs player after the window slammed shut last night.
Ange Postecoglou confirmed a couple of weeks ago that the former Tottenham captain will not be part of the club’s 25-man Premier League squad (Football.London), which raises the possibility that the year left in the Frenchman’s contract will be terminated by Spurs.

Chelsea considered a move for Hugo Lloris
The Telegraph have now explained that Mauricio Pochettino, who was the man who handed Lloris the captain’s armband at Spurs many years ago, considered reuniting with the goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge.
It is explained that following Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan move to Real Madrid, the Argentine was thinking about signing the 36-year-old to serve as an understudy to Robert Sanchez.
However, the report states that the Blues instead decided to sign Djorde Petrovic from MLS club New England Revolution, on the recommendation of former Chelsea goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts.

It would have certainly not been a pretty sight to see Lloris wear a Chelsea shirt. Even if Pochettino had called him, I doubt the Frenchman would have considered diminishing his Tottenham legacy just for the sake of serving as an understudy at Stamford Bridge for a season.
