Sport Mediaset have claimed that AS Roma and Juventus would be interested in signing Tanguy Ndombele this summer if the Tottenham man is available on a free transfer.
Ndombele has shown many glimpses of his talent during his loan spell at Napoli this season but he has primarily been used as an impact substitute and has struggled to break into the club’s starting eleven.
The midfielder was frozen out of the Tottenham first-team picture under former boss Antonio Conte in the wake of the former Lyon man being booed by his own fans during the 3-1 FA Cup win against Morecambe in January 2022 (Sky Sports).
Luciano Spalletti’s men have the option to buy the midfielder on a permanent basis for €30m (£26.3m) but Sport Mediaset have now suggested that the Serie A club have no intention of doing so.
It is explained that Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis doesn’t want to pay that much, which is why the club might pass up on Ndombele.
The report asserts that Spurs are keen to ‘get rid’ of the 26-year-old and are even open to terminating his contract this summer by paying off the player.
If that comes to pass, it is suggested that Roma and Juventus would both explore signing Ndombele on a free transfer.
Spurs Web Opinion
While Tottenham would keen to get Tanguy Ndombele off their wage bill, I do not see why the club would terminate his contract when they get a fee for him.
I suspect that Napoli would be open to signing the midfielder permanently for a fee lower than £26m and that the two clubs will sit down at the negotiating table this summer to strike a deal.
