Giallorossi.net have revealed that AS Roma are now willing to cash in on Roger Ibanez amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The report explains that the Serie A club are aiming to raise €60m (£52m) from player sales this summer in order to offset their losses and one of the players they plan on moving on is Ibanez.
The centre-back is said to be attracting interest from the Premier League, with Spurs and Newcastle keeping an eye on him while the defender is also allegedly on Atletico Madrid’s radar.
In fact, Giallorossi.net state that scouts from Tottenham and Newcastle were at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend to watch Ibanez in action when Jose Mourinho’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Inter Milan.
The publication adds that Roma have informed interested clubs that they would be willing to sell the Brazilian for €30m (£26m).
This is not the first occasion Ibanez has been linked with a move to Spurs, with CalcioMercato reporting back in March that the North London club had knocked on Roma’s door to ask about the defender’s availability.
Spurs Web Opinion
There is no doubt that Spurs need reinforcements in central defence but our targets will be influenced by whether or not the next manager prefers playing a back three or a back four.
So, I do not see the club making moves for any centre-back until a new head coach is in place.
