Jose Mourinho’s prayers for a stronger spine in his United side could be answered by Eric Dier, according to The Daily Mirror.
Dier, who joined Spurs in 2014 for £4 million, scored the opening goal in both Tottenham’s 2014/15 and 2015/16 Premier League campaigns. Under Mauricio Pochettino’s management, the 23 year old has been moved from centre-back to defensive midfielder and has largely enjoyed a budding career under the Argentinian.
However, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is seemingly determined to prise Dier out from Spurs’ hands with the special one set to bid a whopping £40 million for the former Sporting Lisbon defender, an increase of 900% of his initial worth. Daniel Levy is a famously tough negotiator, but he has proven to be open to big money departures. Former key squad members such as Luka Modric and Dimitar Berbatov were both sold for a smaller value.
It has become apparent that Dier wants to play in his new role as a defensive midfielder, instead of in a back three. Should Mourinho promise him that football as well as a higher wage than his current £50,000 per week, do you think Dier would want to leave? And do you think Levy would sell?
