Another day another Harry Kane transfer story. This time The Sun are reporting that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is eyeing a British record £170m swoop for our prized asset.
The article reports that a couple of seasons ago the United hierarchy sounded out Tottenham over a possible £40m deal which included Javier Hernandez.
Supposedly chairman Daniel Levy rejected their offer outright, telling his United counterparts he believed Kane could be worth more than the £77m that Real Madrid had to pay for Gareth Bale.
The article continues saying Mourinho has been a long-term admirer of our inform England striker, and he is very keen to bring him to Old Trafford.
He wants to pair Kane with Romelu Lukaku in the hope of turning United into a dominant European force once again.
However the piece does say that Tottenham are adamant they will reject ANY approaches for their star players, especially Harry.
The article understands that Daniel Levy will offer Harry a new £150,000-a-week contract next summer, in an effort to keep him at White Hart Lane.
They go on to say that despite Spurs’ offer to their star man United will still look to try to lure the 24-year-old in turn break the Premier League transfer record.
The article continues by quoting an Old Trafford source saying : “The club had asked about Kane’s availability a few years back.
“They were told by Spurs there was no chance. Jose is a big fan and is very interested.
“Zlatan Ibrahimovic will move on next summer, more than likely, freeing up a load of cash they plan to use.
“The problem for United is the money could get to a ridiculous level. It’s going to be more than Kylian Mbappe.
“It’s money they can lay their hands on but it will be interesting to see what Levy’s stance on the whole thing will be.”
So another day, and yet what looks like another ridiculous Kane story. They are as frequent as the day is long these days. They are however discouraging and despite Kane’s willingness to seemingly commit to Spurs, doubts will always be there especially with the numbers involved.
Genuinely I think he is committed but there are no certainties in life and especially football. Do you think it’s just more media hype or is it happening so frequently now there might be an element of truth?. Let us know your thoughts.
