A report from LaRoma24 has suggested West Ham United are looking at former Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho to replace David Moyes at the club.
Mourinho is currently in charge of Serie A side Roma, having joined the club in the summer of 2021 just a couple of months after being dismissed as Spurs manager.
The Portuguese manager won the Europa Conference League with the Italian side last season.
In fact, Mourinho has been successful everywhere he has coached. From his escapades in Europe with Porto, to dominating the Premier League with Chelsea, bringing glory back to Inter Milan, and even winning the Europa League with Manchester United.
The only place Mourinho didn’t find success, was with Spurs. The highly-rated manager spent just under 18 months with Tottenham, but was sacked before the League Cup final in 2021.
Now, the 60-year-old has been linked with a return to London, as West Ham take further consideration into the position of their current manager David Moyes.
The Hammers are presently in 16th position in the Premier League, but sit just two points clear of bottom team Bournemouth.
Football Insider previously claimed West Ham were hoping to lure another former Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino, to the club in the event of them parting ways with Moyes.
The latest from Italy suggests they may see Mourinho as the answer instead.
The report claims West Ham have made contact to enquire about Mourinho taking the role, but it has been made clear he will not be leaving his current position midway through the season.
Spurs Web Opinion
I cannot see a manager like Mourinho taking on the West Ham job.
He seems to have found his feet with Roma, so coming back to England to manage a club flirting with relegation just doesn’t make any sense.
I think West Ham need to lower their expectations.
