Destiny Udogie has insisted that Tottenham can be pleased with their performance at the Optus Stadium despite being on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat against West Ham.
Tottenham dominated proceedings from start to finish, registering 32 shots on goal to the Hammers’ seven but ended up on the losing side, partly owing to some lapses at the back.
The Lilywhites could have also emerged comfortable winners if their forwards had been a little more clinical in front of goal but the likes of Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison were a little rusty in front of goal, which is perhaps to be expected in their first outing of the summer.
Udogie came on at half-time and delivered a promising display, with the 20-year-old even finding the back of the net with a perfectly placed glancing header in the 71st minute.
Positives to take for Tottenham, says Destiny Udogie
The left-back insisted that the performance was more important than the result in the first pre-season game of the summer and added that this gives something for the players to build on.

I was quite impressed with Udogie, who showed that he has the technical quality and tactical intelligence to play as an inverted full-back in Postecoglou’s system.
It is still extremely early days but it feels like we might have a gem on our hands.
