Sky Sports Football Daily have revealed that Newcastle United’s move for AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali could boost Tottenham’s chances of landing James Maddison.
The report states that the Magpies are pushing ahead with a move for Tonali, who is valued at £55m by AC Milan.
Should Newcastle get the deal for the Italy international over the line, it could potentially end their pursuit of the Leicester City star.
Football Daily state that with the Foxes demanding £50m for Maddison, it is thought that Eddie Howe’s men cannot afford deals for both him and Tonali, due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Tottenham seem to be favourites for Maddison deal
This update comes a couple of days after Football Insider reported that Spurs might have an advantage in the race for the 26-year-old as Newcastle only value the attacking midfielder at £30m.
The Northern Echo had previously reported on Monday that Spurs are the ‘favourites’ to land Maddison as they are willing to offer him a higher salary than Newcastle while the player also prefers living in London.

It appears as if Maddison is seen as a priority signing by Ange Postecoglou while he is one of just several options on Newcastle’s radar.
So, one would expect Spurs to get this deal over the line but I doubt the North London club would consider paying more than £40m for the attacking midfielder, given that he has only one year left on his contract.
