Tottenham Hotspur are still pursuing a move for Porto striker Mehdi Taremi, but due to a clause in his current contract with the Portuguese side, an offer of €30m (£25.7m) is expected to be required to land the striker.

Anyone who stays abreast with the world of football will be well aware that Tottenham recently lost their star striker. Harry Kanes move to Bayern Munich this month has left a gaping hole in the Lilywhites’ forward line.

While Richarlison has been filling in as the lead striker for the start of the Premier League campaign, there is an expectation that the North London club will move to bolster their goalscoring options before the transfer window closes.

Various names have been linked to Spurs already with regards to their attacking needs. One name who was thought to be on the radar is Portos Mehdi Taremi (Sacha Tavolieri).

Spurs are still in the hunt for Mehdi Taremi

Recently, it was suggested Tottenham were moving on in their search for a striker and would no longer look at Taremi (CaughtOffside). However, the latest word from Italy claims the Premier League outfit are still in the race.

CalcioMercato state that AC Milan are trying to sign Taremi, but are making very little progress. Their offer of €15m (£12.9m) was deemed far too low by Porto, mainly because they can only claim 85% of the transfer fee for themselves.

The sell-on clause dictates that the Portuguese side are keen to attract offers closer to €30m (£25.7m) to let the Israeli striker go.

This is where Spurs come in. Apparently, Taremi still has plenty of interest in England, and “in particular” from Tottenham.

It is thought the Lilywhites could be one to watch when it comes to Taremi’s future being decided during the current transfer window.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Taremi doesn’t really fit the profile of the younger talent we have been signing this window, one thing is for certain – he knows how to score goals.

Maybe his experience and natural finishing ability would work as a stop-gap until we can sign or develop a more fitting replacement for Harry Kane.
