The Daily Mail have revealed that representatives from Tottenham and all the other Premier League clubs met on Thursday to discuss the charges against Manchester City.
Earlier this week, the Premier League charged City with breaking the competition’s financial rules on over 100 occasions across a nine-year period.
The charges against the reigning champions relate to financial information regarding revenue, details of manager and player remuneration, UEFA regulations, profitability and sustainability and cooperation with Premier League investigations (Guardian).
Sky Sports revealed a couple of days ago that Tottenham and the other members of the so-called ‘big six’ were ‘pressing hardest’ for action to be taken against City.
The Mail have now reported that representatives from Spurs and the other Premier League clubs met at London’s Churchill hotel on Thursday to discuss the matter.
The report explains that despite clubs holding varying opinions towards Financial Fair Play regulations, City’s breaches have been ‘one of the most unifying factors since the Super League’.
However, The Mail add that the Premier League are anticipating a long battle with the Manchester club and that despite the serious allegations, there is ‘confidence’ within the City camp that they will be able to defend themselves.

Even if Man City manage to get off without any punishment due to legal loopholes and technicalities (just as they did in their legal battle with UEFA regarding FFP breaches), all their title and cup wins will forever be tainted, if they were not already.
Clubs like Tottenham, who have been big supporters of FFP and have followed the rules, will certainly be pushing for severe punishments to be handed to City.
