The Independent have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are still some way off striking a deal with Nottingham Forest for Brennan Johnson.

As things stand, the North London club are not close to meeting Forest’s valuation of the Wales international, which stands at over £40m.

The report asserts that many close to the situation have expressed doubt over whether a late deal for Johnson can be struck between the two clubs.

Spurs really want Eze but he is too expensive

While the outlet names Fati as an alternative, who now seems to be heading to Brighton instead, it also states that Spurs are ‘strongly considering’ Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

However, it is explained that the Eagles would want well over £60m for the 25-year-old, thus likely putting him out of Tottenham’s price range.

Eze would arguably be the best signing for Spurs and could take the club to another level, but I don’t see Tottenham paying that kind of money, or getting a complicated deal done within 48 hours of the window closing. It seems like Johnson or nothing at the moment.
