Tottenham Under-21s head coach Wayne Burnett has lavished praise on Jamie Donley for the performance he delivered against Colchester.
Tottenham’s Under-21s ran out comfortable 5-0 winners on Wednesday in the EFL Cup clash against the Oysters, with Donley and Jude Soonsup-Bell scoring a brace while Will Lankshear also found the back of the net.
Summer signing Alejo Veliz also came on as a substitute in the second half for his Tottenham debut and looked quite lively even though he could not join the goalscorers.
Donley’s brace means that he already has three goals and seven assists in just five matches so far this season, and Football.London’s Alasdair Gold stated in his match review that everything good Spurs did came through the 18-year-old.
Jamie Donley continues to shine for Tottenham U21
The journalist suggested that if the versatile attacker keeps putting in similar performances, he could soon force Ange Postecoglou to take a serious look at him.
Donley has now also earned the praise of Burnett, who labelled the teenager’s display as ‘outstanding’.
The 52-year-old told Spurs Play:” Jamie [Donley] played with energy and enthusiasm, you can see his quality. I really liked Jamie this evening, I thought he was outstanding.”

We have quite a lot of extremely talented players coming through the system at the moment, with Donley undoubtedly being one of them.
With a manager like Ange at the helm, who is willing to trust young players, we could soon see a massive influx of academy players breaking into the first-team set-up.
