Both Jamie Donley and Alfie Dorrington were seen training with the Tottenham first team in the most recent training video released by the club.

Spurs have a few long-term absentees at the moment, with Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic not available for selection, while Rodrigo Bentancur is still being eased into training.

Postecoglou has not been shy of handing opportunities to youngsters, with Alejo Veliz coming on as a substitute on three occasions this season.

The future looks bright for Tottenham Hotspur

Dorrington and Donley might soon be hoping to force themselves into the first-team picture, with both players training with the senior squad.

Donley has been in outstanding form for the Under-21s so far this season, with the versatile attacker having five goals and seven assists in six matches so far (Transfrmarkt).

Dorrington has also been a rock at the back for the Under-21s, with Football Transfers even suggesting last week that Postecoglou is willing to promote the 18-year-old to the first team in case Eric Dier leaves in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

Neither Donley nor Dorringham are likely to get a place in the matchday squad anytime soon, with Alejo Veliz and Ashley Phillips being ahead of them in the pecking order respectively. However, it is clear that the two academy teenagers have caught the eye of Postecoglou and his coaching staff.

The international break is here, and Tottenham Hotspur have a number of players involved with their respective countries. Here’s when and where each player will feature.

Tottenham go into the international break at the top of the Premier League table after an incredible start to the season under Ange Postecoglou.

The Spurs boss has bid farewell to a large portion of his squad for the next couple of weeks, as various players head out to join up with their national squads.

There are Euro 2024 qualifiers, friendly matches, youth squad action, and even some World Cup 2026 qualifiers on the way in the coming days.

On Wednesday, Ben Davies captained Wales to a 4-0 win over Gibraltar at Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground. The Spurs defender even opened the scoring on the night, nodding home from three yards out.

Meanwhile, Tottenham youngsters Luca Gunter and Ashley Phillips played the full 90 minutes as England U19s drew 0-0 with Montenegro. Alfie Dorrington was an unused substitute for the game, while Jamie Donley didn’t make the matchday squad.

Fellow youngster, Will Andiyapan, was in action for Wales U19s, playing the full 90 minutes in another 0-0 draw, against Austria.

Journalist Dean Jones has predicted Jamie Donley will make his big breakthrough with the Tottenham Hotspur first team this year, and compared the youngster to Harry Kane.

Losing a player of Harry Kane‘s quality is never a good thing. A club legend, rising from the academy to become the all-time leading goalscorer for Tottenham, Kane’s legacy is immense.

Admittedly, Ange Postecoglou and his Spurs players have not exactly struggled in the wake of Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich. The Lilywhites are unbeaten in their first eight league games.

The likes of Heung-min Son and James Maddison have stepped up to provide creativity and goals this year, but Postecoglou could also have players in his youth squad to look to if needed.

Jamie Donley is one of the most promising stars in the Tottenham setup, and even made the bench for the Liverpool game last weekend.

Postecoglou recently commented on how ‘pleased’ he has been with Donley’s progress in the under-21s and in training with the first team this season (Football.London).

Jamie Donley is ready to take his chance at Spurs

Now, speaking to GiveMeSport, Dean Jones has revealed what he is hearing about Donley and his chances of making it in the Spurs first team.

He said: “Jamie Donley was listed among the substitutes after propelling himself into Ange Postecoglou’s thoughts with scintillating displays for Spurs’ under-21s and impressing in first-team training.

“At a time when cash is king in the Premier League – and finding a Harry Kane replacement is the trendy theme around North London – there is genuine hope for the emergence of an exciting forward who has been part of the club since Under-8s level.

“It’s early days but sources around Spurs believe there is a genuine chance he gets lift-off this season. It might not be too long until there’s a new chant around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: ‘Jamie Donley, he’s one of our own!'”

Spurs Web Opinion

He’s already been on the bench once this season, and it won’t be the last time we see him among the matchday squad, I’m sure. Donley will no doubt make it onto the field for Spurs this season, and he does feel like the kind of player who, once he gets that big break, he won’t look back.

Ange Postecoglou has been speaking to the press about the young players at the club, and had lots of positive things to say about Jamie Donley and Alfie Dorrington.

The Tottenham Hotspur squad is full of talented players right now, and they are flying high at present. Ange Postecoglou remains unbeaten in the league since taking over at the club.

While the current crop of players may be doing their bit to try and get the club on the path to success, that doesn’t mean there isn’t one eye on the future at Spurs.

Currently, two of the hottest prospects at the club are out on loan. Dane Scarlett is trying his best to break into the first team at Championship pacesetters, Ipswich Town, while Alfie Devine is a division lower, with Port Vale.

Meanwhile, still at the club, two youngsters are starting to catch the eye of the first-team boss.

Postecoglou likes Dorrington and Donley

Speaking to the press (via Football.London), Postecoglou was asked about the progress of both Alfie Dorrington and Jamie Donley.

He said: “With the young guys like Jamie, he’s been doing really well with the U21s consistently. Jamie and Alfie Dorrington have really stood out and that’s why they’ve been training with us.

“They’ve got to keep working and it doesn’t mean they’re ahead in the pecking order of people like Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett who are out on loan. I’ve been really pleased with Jamie and Alfie though, they’ve been working well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am really excited about the young talent we have at the club right now, mainly because it feels like Postecoglou will actually give them an opportunity in the first team.

I would be very surprised if we don’t see the likes of Donley and Dorrington called up for some game time at some point this season.

Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s coach Wayne Burnett has lavished praise on Jamie Donley and admitted that the youngster has all the attributes to develop into a top player.

Donley has undoubtedly been the standout player for Tottenham’s Under-21s this season, having scored five goals and provided seven assists so far in all competitions.

The teenager was once again the star of the show in the club’s 4-2 win over Chelsea in Premier League 2 on Monday, netting a second-half brace.

The forward’s talent has seemingly not gone unnoticed by Ange Posteoclgou and his coaching staff as he was pictured training with the first team and was even named on the bench in the club’s 2-1 win over Liverpool.

Alasdair Gold said in a Q&A on Football.london last week that Donley was dropping deep and evolving into more of a creator this season and admitted that he would love to see the youngster get some opportunities for the senior side.

Could Jamie Donley be the next Spurs academy gem?

Burnett is no doubt about the attacker’s capability, stating that he was proud to see him being named on the bench against the Reds.

The Spurs Under-21s coach told the official website about Donley: “He’s got that ability, he’s got that vision, I thought he was very good again tonight. He was on the bench for the first team on Saturday, we’re all very, very, very proud of him, everyone who’s played a part in his development.

“Everyone’s so proud that one of our academy graduates gets near our first team as that’s important to us, really, really important to us. It’s important that the players are aware of that as well.

“His energy, his enthusiasm, his ability, if you have those things you’ve got an opportunity to perform well. He’s done that again tonight and he’s scored another couple of goals.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not see Donley making his senior debut anytime soon, given that we have no European football and are out of the Carabao Cup.

However, if he continues playing as well as he is for the Under-21s, Spurs might have to seriously consider loaning him out to a League One side or a Championship club in January.

Alasdair Gold would love to see Jamie Donley force himself into the first-team picture sooner rather than later, revealing that the teenager is evolving into more of a creative spark.

Tottenham take on Liverpool this weekend but will be without Brennan Johnson who came off with an injury in the North London Derby – potentially freeing up an attacking spot on the bench.

Reports indicate that those at the club are optimistic that Maddison can play a part against the Reds (Times).

Could Jamie Donley make the step up at Tottenham?

In case either or both of them are not fit to feature tomorrow, Postecoglou might have to turn to young players from the academy and one man who was pictured training with the first team this week was Donley.

The 18-year-old has three goals and seven assists for the Under-21s so far this season, and Gold suggested that the teenager could soon find a place on the bench if he continues impressing.

The journalist said in a Q&A on Football.london: “In terms of academy players I’d love to see Jamie Donley get a spot on the bench. Although he’s in a position with a lot of first-team competition in it right now.

“The way he’s developing though, he’s becoming more and more of a creator than an out-and-out striker. Who knows, he might one day be able to fit the dual role Harry Kane used to have or even drop deeper to emulate James Maddison.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do expect Maddison to start against Liverpool and Postecoglou has been boosted by the return of Bryan Gil, which is why I do not think Donley will be included in the matchday squad against the Reds.

Tottenham Under-21s head coach Wayne Burnett has lavished praise on Jamie Donley for the performance he delivered against Colchester.

Tottenham’s Under-21s ran out comfortable 5-0 winners on Wednesday in the EFL Cup clash against the Oysters, with Donley and Jude Soonsup-Bell scoring a brace while Will Lankshear also found the back of the net.

Summer signing Alejo Veliz also came on as a substitute in the second half for his Tottenham debut and looked quite lively even though he could not join the goalscorers.

Donley’s brace means that he already has three goals and seven assists in just five matches so far this season, and Football.London’s Alasdair Gold stated in his match review that everything good Spurs did came through the 18-year-old.

Jamie Donley continues to shine for Tottenham U21

The journalist suggested that if the versatile attacker keeps putting in similar performances, he could soon force Ange Postecoglou to take a serious look at him.

Donley has now also earned the praise of Burnett, who labelled the teenager’s display as ‘outstanding’.

The 52-year-old told Spurs Play:” Jamie [Donley] played with energy and enthusiasm, you can see his quality. I really liked Jamie this evening, I thought he was outstanding.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We have quite a lot of extremely talented players coming through the system at the moment, with Donley undoubtedly being one of them.

With a manager like Ange at the helm, who is willing to trust young players, we could soon see a massive influx of academy players breaking into the first-team set-up.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has remarked that there are plenty of talented players in their academy who can potentially hit new heights this season.

Ange Postecoglou has already shown that he is willing to trust young players, with Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie being regulars in his starting eleven while 18-year-old summer signing, Ashley Phillips, was named on the bench for the clash away at Burnley.

Gold has now come up with a list of six players who could potentially catch Postecoglou’s eye over the course of this season.

Jamie Donley

Who are the top talents in Tottenham’s academy?

The journalist begins the list with Jamie Donley, revealing that the reason Spurs decided to offer a four-year deal rather than the usual three-year contract to the forward is that they expect big things from him.

Gold also names two more strikers on his list, Jude Soonsup-Bell and Will Lankshear, who were both signed last summer.

Unsurprisingly, he also includes 18-year-old centre-back Alfie Dorrington, revealing that the teenager has already been involved in first-team training under Postecoglou.

Gold remarks that midfielder Yago Santiago also looks set to have a breakthrough season and rounds off his list with two 16-year-old starlets, Mikey Moore and Callum Olusesi.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham made some smart moves by tying several of these youngsters to new contracts in the summer. Perhaps Postecoglou’s appointment helped the club convince some of these players to stay as the pathway to the first-team at Spurs is now much more realistic.

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham starlet Jamie Donley suffered an injury while training with England’s Under-19s last week.

There is plenty of excitement at Spurs about Donley, with the attacker netting five goals and registering four assists in just six matches for the Under-19s last season while also scoring three times and providing two assists for the Under-21s (Transfermarkt).

The 18-year-old, who can operate as a centre-forward or in the hole as a number ten, has also started the new campaign on fire, with seven-goal contributions in four matches in Premier League two so far.

The teenager was one of four Spurs players to be called up to the England Under-19 squad, alongside Luca Gunter, Alfie Dorrington and summer signing, Ashley Phillips.

However, Gold explained that Donley could not get any minutes under his belt due to an injury. The journalist admitted that he is excited about what the forward can achieve this season.

Jamie Donley missing for England with minor injury

Gold said on his YouTube channel: “Poor old Jamie Donley went along (with the England Under-19s). I think he got a little bit of an injury early on in the camp. So, he didn’t end up playing any part in the two games.

“But, I’m excited to see what Jamie Donley’s going to do this season. I think this is going to be the one where we see him develop very quickly and suddenly.

“He’s sort of been threatening to do that and really maturing, really developing his all-round game. They’ve been playing him in a lot of positions, so keep an eye on Jamie Donley this season. Honestly, I’ve got really high hopes for him.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Donley is certainly developing very quickly and I fully expect Spurs to consider loaning the striker out to the EFL next season if he continues on the same trajectory.

Jamie Donley has been with Spurs since he was just eight years old. From then on, he has thrived at every level on the rise to where he is now. Currently, Donley leads the line for Spurs U21s, and he is taking the Premier League 2 (PL2) by storm.

After joining Spurs, Donley has impressed in every age group squad, and in November 2020, he was given the chance to make his U18 debut. From then on, there was no looking back for Donley. Although he made his debut in the 2020/21 season, this was not his breakout year.

The season after making his debut, Donley became a regular starter, and he made sure his place in the squad was secure.

He went on to have a stellar season and ended up in the top five goalscorers in the league with 18 goals to boot. Not only did he bring goals to the table, but he was an excellent provider and picked up six assists in the league (Transfermarkt).

You would expect him to keep his rich vein of form in the next season; however, it was somewhat disrupted. Donley had to share his time between the U18s and the U21s due to injuries. The lack of depth in the U21 squad meant he had to start for them when he should have been starting for the U18s.

This constant switching between the two squads brought irregularity for him, in the U18s, he was superb, picking up nine goal contributions in six games (Transfermarkt). However, his return in the U21s was not as impressive, with just five G/A in 21 games.

The academy set-up was becoming distorted, and under Antonio Conte, there was also a lack of cohesion between the U21s and the starting XI, with very few academy players in the cup squads.

Not only this, Alfie Devine spent the whole season travelling with the first team, yet he only played one minute in the whole season. This is just one example of the poor relationship between the academy and Conte’s squads.

The disappointment for the academy didn’t stop there. The U21s faced the risk of relegation going into the last game of the season. Although the U21s won their match, results elsewhere meant they were relegated. This, however, was not the case, as a rule change in the PL2 meant they would not face relegation and instead would be part of a newly formatted league.

Jamie Donley is a gem of the Tottenham academy

Not many expected much of Spurs in the PL2 this year after last season. This didn’t dishearten the young stars, and they started the season off with four consecutive wins, including a 5-0 win over reigning champions Manchester City.

At the forefront of this spectacular form is Donley. He has led the attack for Spurs and has created a superb partnership with Yago Santiago and Jude Soonsup-Bell. These three have been so influential in Spurs’ form and output in the opening games. Although Donley sits in front of Santiago and Soonsup-Bell.

In the opening game against Man City Donley was flawless, and he picked up two assists. One of which came from his relentless pressure and pressing, something that has become a regular in his game.

He carried this momentum into the next game, against Newcastle. In this game, Donley was once again a magician. After being played down the line, he put in a perfect low-swinging cross to Soonsup-Bell, who tapped it past the keeper. A move that was orchestrated by Donley’s playmaking ability.

Donley didn’t show any signs of slowing down, and in the next week, he would once again be as influential as ever against Derby. After a ball trickled away in the distance, Donley tracked it down and dove into a tackle, winning the ball and starting the Spurs attack.

He then re-positioned himself and received the ball without looking at the goal. Donley powered a ball into the box, which landed perfectly for Soonsup-Bell, who didn’t even have to change his run. This was an outrageous pass that most Premier League stickers wouldn’t dare to try.

Half an hour later, Donley would once again demonstrate his immense passing ability. After a ball rolled away from the goal area, Donely chased it and turned to put it back towards the back post.

He did this without looking at the area, and yet it still found Soonsup-Bell perfectly at the back post. Donley was ominous against Derby and proved he is truly a multi-faceted striker who can be a dynamo or a devastating poacher.

In Spurs’ most recent fixture against Sunderland in the cup, Nile John was tripped in the box just 20 minutes in. The referee had no choice but to point to the penalty spot and up-step Donley.

With total composure, he fired it into the bottom right corner, giving Spurs the lead. Spurs went on to win the game in the dying seconds after a stunning Harvey White freekick.

Donley has thrived so far this season and will no doubt continue to dominate the league with the rest of the highly talented Spurs U21 side. Hopefully, we will see Donley make his 1XI debut this season; however, now that Spurs are out of the Carabao Cup, this narrows the fixtures he could do this in.

It’s most likely he will have to wait until the FA Cup fixtures or if there is an injury to one of the Spurs frontline players.

Game 1 – Manchester City

Spurs U21s played their first game of the PL2 season against reigning champions Manchester City. However, it didn’t take long in the game for Spurs to find their rhythm. Just six minutes into the game, Jamie Donely played a pass into Yago Santiago who drove forward, cut inside, and curled a shot into the near post, which beat the Man City keeper. (YouthFootballHighlights).

Spurs’ next opportunity came five minutes later, when Donely’s pressing paid off and he managed to get a foot to a Man City pass. This pass bobbled off Donely’s foot and landed perfectly for Jude Soonsup-Bell. With one quick motion, Soonsup-Bell fired the ball into the roof of the net, and Spurs led 2-0.

Spurs’ aggressive pursuit of goals continued but didn’t come to fruition until moments into the second half. After Nile John was dragged down, Soonsup-Bell swiftly took advantage and delivered a perfect outside-of-the-boot pass to a marauding Damola Ajayi. He then shifted the ball outside, which left the final Man City defender out of the equation, and to top it off, he slid the ball through the keeper’s legs for a nutmeg goal.

Man City then applied some pressure to the Spurs defence, but Alfie Dorrington and Brooklyn Lyons-Foster were able to make easy work of any Man City attacks, with most of Man City’s efforts nullified before a shot could be registered. Spurs goalie, Josh Keeley, was rarely tested and looked comfortable throughout the game.

Spurs once again were looking to extend their lead, and Santiago would be the one to launch and finish this attack. After a misplaced pass from the Man City midfield, they were backtracking, and Santiago took advantage of that. His pressure on the unaware ball carrier meant he was able to swiftly take possession and drive goalward.

The Man City centre-back was once again chasing back and dove in to tackle Santiago, but he was able to slow his run and watch the defender slide past. Santiago then curled an effort from a tight angle, but it was perfectly placed and beat the Man City keeper.

The final goal would come in the 71st minute when a freekick was given to Spurs. Nile John looked up and saw Rio Kyerematen running a fantastic line down the heart of the Man City defence. The perfectly weighted pass met Kyerematen with only one defender in front of him. However, there was no stopping Kyerematen, who danced his way around the lone defender and slotted it into the back of the net.

Spurs went on to win the game 5-0 in dominating fashion. Last year, the champions were easily beaten by the slightly older Spurs side, and Spurs sat at the top of the table. The whole team played flawlessly, but Soonsup-Bell and Santiago had outstanding games, and both look to be in fantastic form going into the season.

Game 2 – Newcastle United

Newcastle would be the ones to start the game strong, and their first major chance came in the 11th minute. After a low cross was played into the box, Remi Savage had a shot at Spurs goalkeeper Josh Keeley. Nevertheless, Keeley was able to make a strong save from a dangerous effort, keeping the score level (YouthFootballHighlights).

The next chance would fall to Spurs after a fast pass was fired into the feet of Soonsup-Bell, who clipped it down the line to a full-flight Santiago. This left Santiago with acres of space and the goal in sight. With his lightning-fast feet, he was able to steer clear of any danger and glide past the keeper. Santiago then coolly passed it into the unoccupied goal.

Just minutes later, Alfie Devine cut in from the left and fired a shot goalward, which narrowly missed and whistled past the inside post.

After 25 minutes of play, Spurs got another chance. Dorrington was able to work his way to the byline and deliver a pass to an unmarked Donley. This was fired wide of the target, and it was a chance that should have been claimed, but Spurs would have to keep plugging away to force more chances.

Chances did come, and 10 minutes later, Spurs found themselves with another attempt to score. Santiago had the ball played into him, he then drove inward, allowing Donely to drift outside. He then played a through ball to Donely, who had plenty of running room as the full-back had committed to Santiago. Donely opted for a quick cross to the back post, which found Soonsup-Bell, who clipped it in with an outstretched foot.

There was a scare for Spurs just before the half when Newcastle midfielder Turner Cook curled an effort that just missed the far post. This would be the last effort at goal before the halftime whistle.

Just after halftime, Santiago would continue his rich vein of form, and he took on defenders down the left flank. He was able to move around the full-back as he shifted the ball from his right foot to his left, which then powered a shot past the keeper to put Spurs 3-0 up.

Spurs once again applied more pressure to the Newcastle backline when John played a pass into Soonsup-Bell’s feet. Soonsup-Bell turned and looked to edge it to Donely, but a tackle stopped this. Nevertheless, John was there to reclaim the ball for Spurs, but instead, he opted for a first-time shot, which beat the Newcastle keeper and gave Spurs the lead 4-0.

Newcastle were eager to get back into the game, and they were crafting more and more chances. In the 67th minute, Josh Keeley had to dive full-stretch after a shot was hit cross-goal from far out.

In the 77th minute, Newcastle had a stellar chance after a lofted cross was played in from the byline. A Newcastle player was waiting for this ball to drop to his feet, and he hit it first time at goal. Despite Spurs’ effort to clear the ball, it nestled into the back of the net.

The game finished 4-1, and Spurs once again shined in a high-scoring, thrilling match. They end this weekend at the summit, with North London rivals Arsenal in second place. They face Derby in the next fixture – last season Derby picked up just 1 point in the PL2 division 2. This should be an easier fixture for Spurs considering their two previous results against top-quality opposition.

The father of Tottenham Hotspur striker Jamie Donley has taken to Twitter to reveal that his son was omitted from the club’s pre-season tour after sustaining an injury.

Tottenham revealed yesterday evening which players had been named in Ange Postecoglou’s squad for the matches in Australia, Singapore and Thailand with it evident that the 57-year-old has decided to cast his eye over the first-team squad rather than at this stage, look to give opportunities to many within the academy ranks.

Jamie Donley missed pre-season tour due to an injury

James Donley wrote on Twitter that he had received many questions as to why the 18-year-old was not selected and admitted that Jamie, who has been within the ranks of the north Londoners since the age of eight picked up an injury just days before the trip.

He wrote: “I’m getting a lot of messages about @jamiedonley9 and him not going away with the team. Unfortunately he got injured 2 days before tour FFS. Exactly the same as last year.

“Hopefully get back for start of the season. Thanks for the support  and Good luck in oz @SpursOfficial.”

It was a similar story ahead of last season when the left-footer also missed the chance to be part of Antonio Conte’s squad in South Korea having also been sidelined with an injury.

Last season, Jamie Donley mainly operated in midfield in games, partly to continue to round out his game and also as a result of the lack of other options in the middle of the park at Under-19 level.

SpursWeb Opinion

It is understandable why Postecoglou has taken many of the players who may not have been considered to have had a future if Conte was still at the club with the likes of Tanguy Ndombele having boarded the flight to Perth since he wants to give some the chance to have another opportunity to turn their career around at the club.

It was also a shame not to see Matthew Craig named among the squad, especially after he had been handed his Premier League debut on the final day of last season in the 4-1 win at relegated Leeds United.

Over the past five years, the Tottenham Hotspur academy has been under scrutiny due to the lack of first-team players produced in N17.

The frustration has come mainly from the lack of cohesion between the academy and the first team. In recent years bridging the gap between the U23s and the first-team squad has never been harder

The 2022/23 season has been a whirlwind for the academy, with two Premier League cups lifted and some potential talents making their mark.

The U18 and U17 academy squads were captained by Luca Gunter, and these age groups excelled, coming 5th in the U18 Premier League South (Premier League), alongside both the U17 and U18 Premier League cups. Both finals were thrilling to watch and displayed all of the talents in these squads.

However, the U23 squad had a disappointing season and they went into the last game needing a win and results elsewhere to favour them staying in the league. Despite Spurs’ win against West Ham, they finished the day in the relegation zone.

This was a crushing blow as it would disrupt the player pathway for all the U18s as they would have to compete in a league of lesser quality at the U23 level.

Nevertheless, it looks like the academy league system is set to change, which means Spurs will not go down. They will adopt a single-tier league system without relegation or promotion (Football.London).

The academy is currently very strong, and there are some talents working their way up the club. Some prospects could make their Premier League debuts under Ange Postecoglou.

Here are some of the future talents that Spurs have climbing the ranks:

Alfie Devine

Alfie Devine – 18

Alfie Devine has risen through the ranks at Spurs and is the club’s youngest goalscorer. Earlier in the season, he signed a five-year deal (Tottenham Hotspur).

Throughout the season, the attacking midfielder has been travelling with the first-team squad but he has only played one minute for them.

However, he has played a crucial role in the U23 squad. In the season gone by, he played 17 games for the U23s, where he scored twice and picked up three assists (Transfermarkt).

Devine has also represented England in the Under-20 World Cup. He started in all of England’s games and played an important role as the No.10 in the squad. In the four games they played, Devine scored twice and assisted England teammate Bashir Humphreys (SofaScore).

Mikey Moore

(Photo by Tottenham Hotspur FC/Tottenham Hotspur FC via Getty Images)

Mikey Moore – 15

On June 19, Mikey Moore committed his future to Spurs, meaning the 15-year-old will be at Spurs until 2026 (Fabrizio Romano). Moore is a future star in the making and has already featured for the U18s and the U23s.

Moore has had a stellar season and has performed fantastically for the youth squads. He has seven goal contributions in 10 games for the U18s in the Premier League South this year (Transfermarkt). This is on top of his outstanding performances for the U16 squad.

He is comfortable playing in any attacking position but is at his best playing on the left-hand side. He has been a mainstay in the England U16 squad and has scored in 2 of his last 3 games (Livesport)

Despite his age, we will be hearing a lot about Moore’s endeavours in the coming years and hopefully, we will see him making his first team debut in the near future.

Jamie Donley

(Photo by Tottenham Hotspur FC/Tottenham Hotspur FC via Getty Images)

Jamie Donley – 18

Jamie Donley has led the line for the academy this year. He has represented the U18s and the U23s throughout the season. Not only did Donley play as a striker, but he has filled numerous positions in an injury-riddled squad.

Donely has been a key figure in the academy’s output this season. For the U18s, he had nine goal contributions in only six games. This impressive return was not necessarily mirrored for the U23s, with five-goal contributions in 21 games (Transfermarkt). However, for many of these, he was forced into alternative positions due to squad injuries.

Will Lankshear playing for Spurs

ENFIELD, ENGLAND – OCTOBER 26: Will Lankshear of Spurs during the UEFA Youth League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Sporting CP at Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre on October 26, 2022 in Enfield, England. (Photo by Tottenham Hotspur FC/Tottenham Hotspur FC via Getty Images)

Will Lankshear – 18

Will Lankshear has largely played for the U18 squad; however, he has made appearances for the U21s in the league and in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored against Sporting Lisbon (Transfermarkt).

In the U18 Premier League South, he scored four goals in five games. This impressive goal return was cut short when he injured his knee in February. This injury required surgery, and it has kept him from playing ever since (Football.London).

We will likely see more of Lankshear in the coming season where he will feature regularly for the U21s. He was in great form before his injury and hopefully, he can reach those heights of form again.

Matthew Craig during a training session

ENFIELD, ENGLAND – MARCH 30: Matthew Craig and Rio Kyerematen of Tottenham Hotspur during the Tottenham Hotspur training session at Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre on March 30, 2023 in Enfield, England. (Photo by Tottenham Hotspur FC/Tottenham Hotspur FC via Getty Images)

Matthew Craig – 20

Matthew Craig has been a regular starter for the U23 and his presence at the base of the midfield has been fantastic. The 20-year-old can play anywhere across the midfield and made his debut on the final day of the season against Leeds. Despite only playing 13 minutes, this was a momentous day for the future star.

Craig has been incredibly important for the U23s this year. He has assisted five goals in the Premier League 2 this year (Transfermarkt). Not only has he contributed with his play but he has also captained the side on numerous occasions

It is looking increasingly more likely that Craig will sign a new deal for Spurs(Alasdair Gold). This will be another important extension for the academy.

Oliver Irow in action for Spurs

(Photo by Tottenham Hotspur FC/Tottenham Hotspur FC via Getty Images)

Oliver Irow – 17

Oliver Irow has enjoyed an incredibly successful second half of the season. Despite having a slow start to the season, Irow has turned a corner and has become one of the most exciting prospects in the academy.

Irow has mainly played on the left side this season; however, he is versatile and can play anywhere in the front three. After a slow start to the season, Irow picked up fantastic form starting in game week 13.

He has scored six goals in the last five games (Transfermarkt) – not only did he achieve in the league but in the cup final he had a remarkable game.

In the U17 Cup final Irow was spectacular. The front three of Moore, Donley and Irow were deadly and Irow opened the scoring for Spurs despite slipping while taking his shot.

In the second half, Spurs were firing on all cylinders, and Irow then had a chance for his second goal when Donley gave him a 1 v 1 with the keeper. Irow was never going to miss it and he fired near post past the Nottingham Forest Keeper. (Tottenham Hotspur).

Alfie Dorrington in action for Spurs

TELFORD, ENGLAND – OCTOBER 15: Alfie Dorrington of Tottenham Hotspur U21 runs past Nathan Fraser of Wolves during Premier League 2 match between Wolverhampton Wanderers U21 AND Tottenham Hotspur U21 at New Bucks Head Stadium on October 15, 2022 in Telford, England. (Photo by Nathan Stirk/Getty Images)

Alfie Dorrington – 18

Alfie Dorrington has been one of the most senior defenders in the academy this season. He has played across both the U18 and U21 squads and has been selected consistently in both. He made 16 appearances for the U18s in the league, and he played in 10 games in Premier League 2 (Transfermarkt).

Alfie is not only a dominant centre-back but also a very capable ball carrier, and he has shown this throughout the season. In the U18 Premier Cup final, he was imposing, but his distribution was pinpoint.

Dorrington could be selected to go on the pre-season tour as he is one of the most experienced academy players, and Spurs look likely to have an overhaul in defence.

Luca Gunter in action for Spurs

Luca Gunter – 18

Luca Gunter arrived at Spurs at the age of 12. Now 18, he has been a leader for the academy this season. He has captained the U18s and started nearly every game for them.

Luca has not just been an inspiring presence but also a standout player; he has five clean sheets in the league and one in the Uefa Youth League (Transfermarkt).

Gunter lifted two trophies for the Spurs this season in back-to-back Premier Cup finals. The impressive achievements don’t stop there as Gunter was awarded a contract that lasts until 2025 (Tottenham Hotspur).

Gunter will likely play for the U21s next season in the new Premier League 2 format. There is no doubt that we will see Gunter on the team sheet for the first team squad in the future.

In the video of Tottenham’s training shared by Sky Sports News, eight of the club’s academy starlets are seen training with the first team this week.

Cristian Stellini is set to take charge of his first game as interim Spurs head coach this evening, with Everton set to travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Cristian Stellini

The 48-year-old oversaw proceedings back in February when Antonio Conte was recovering from gall bladder surgery back in Italy.

However, it was still very much the latter who was calling the shots at that time, which will not be the case for the final ten games of the season, with Stellini set to steer the ship.

The Italian has a whole host of injuries to contend with, with the likes of Yves Bissouma, Ryan Sessegnon, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies, Emerson Royal and Richarlison currently on the mend.

As a result, Stellini has seemingly called up several Under-21 stars to first-team training, with Maksim Paskotsi, Michael Craig, Alfie Devine, Dante Cassanova, Rio Kyerematen, Romaine Mundle and Jamie Donley being put through their paces.

Spurs Web Opinion

The big issue is at wing-back, with Porro and Perisic being Stellini’s only two natural options.

The Italian could perhaps use Tanganga as a right wing-back if needed while he could also choose to be a little more adventurous and play Lucas as a wing-back if we are potentially chasing the game.

Spurs were the much more dominant side in the first half and took the lead just five minutes in when Donley found Rio Kyerematen, who volleyed home from close range.

The striker then himself got on the end of a cross ten minutes later to give the home side some breathing space.

However, the visitors gave a much better account of themselves in the second half and drew level through two quickfire goals from Osman Kamara.

It was Donley who had the last laugh as the striker won a late penalty before stepping up to convert from the spot to give the Lilywhites all three points.

Watch the full highlights of the win below:

Spurs Web Opinion

Donley continues to go from strength to strength, with the striker looking a class above everyone else in the Under-18s set-up.

I expect the teenager to feature regularly in Premier League 2 next season as he is clearly too good for this level.

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that highly-rated academy youngster, Jamie Donley has signed a new contract until 2027.

The 18-year-old centre-forward has scored three and assisted three for the under-18s this season, as well as stepping up and playing 14 games in Premier League 2 (TransferMarkt).

This comes after he scored an impressive 16 and assisted another six in 18 U-18 matches last season (TransferMarkt).

In fact, Donley was still a schoolboy when he first started scoring for the U-18 side, before becoming a full-time scholar in 2021 and turning professional in 2022.

The centre-forward has been capped by both Northern Ireland and England at youth level.

Much like Harry Kane, Donley has been playing as a striker and also sometimes in a deeper role this season as he looks to have a greater influence on the game.

Donley has been at Spurs since the age of eight, and his new contract looks set to keep him in North London for a while yet.

Spurs Web Opinion:

After so many talented youngsters have left Spurs in the past five years, tying down the gems in the academy to new contracts is a must for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie Donley is set to agree a new, long-term contract with the club, according to a report from Football.London,

There is no shortage of talented young attackers at Tottenham right now, with the likes of Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett out on loan (at Preston and Portsmouth, respectively), and Will Lankshear and Jude Soonsup-Bell being brought in from Sheffield United and Chelsea, respectively.

However, it is Donley, a product of the Tottenham academy, who looks destined to sign on the dotted line and extend his stay in North London.

Donley has five goals and six assists this season for the Spurs youth team (Transfermarkt). Primarily a striker, Donley has had to prove his flexibility this year and cover in midfield, too.

Though he is yet to make the step up to the first team at this stage, expectations are high for the 18-year-old and he has trained with the senior squad on occasion. It seems Donley’s talents are now being rewarded.

The report from Football.London claims Donley will be given a new three-and-a-half-year deal, with the option of a further one-year extension built in.

Donley has represented both England and Northern Ireland at youth level (Transfermarkt), but it is the latter with whom he appears to have settled at the moment.

It remains to be seen what will happen with Donley next season, but Football.London state the commitment of this new contract will have the player “hoping to follow Harry Kane’s route from the academy.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Donley is a really bright prospect and the fact he is being given this new deal reflects the potential the club sees in him.

I think we’ve got a great young player here, and hopefully we can nurture him correctly and get the best out of him. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go out on loan next season to a lower league club to continue his footballing education.

Football London journalist Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham are trying academy starlet Jamie Donley in a deeper role to try to enhance his ability this season.

Donley was born in Northern Ireland and has been within the Spurs academy ranks at Hotspur Way since the age of eight.

Even before a large chunk of Antonio Conte’s squad headed off to the World Cup, he was training with the first team at Hotspur Way (Getty).

He stole the show in the U18s match against Norwich City earlier this week when he scored a stunning goal from just inside the Canaries’ half when he spotted the goalkeeper off his line, helping his side to a 3-0 victory.

Donley is now playing in a midfield role, with the club keen to give him further experience and to make him a more rounded player.

Gold said on his YouTube channel: “Jamie Donley scored a beauty for the U18s the other day. He could be a very good player if he keeps going as he’s going. He could do with a loan, but I’m intrigued to see how he and Will Lankshear work as a partnership in the youth ranks.

“Donley has been playing as more of a midfielder rather than the striker he is, so I think they’re trying to flesh out his skill set and his experience.”

SpursWeb Opinion

It is a clever idea by the academy staff to give Donley a taste of a midfield role to improve his game, he is clearly more than comfortable at U18 level and the new position will give him an appreciation of what space is ahead of him when he comes to make the next step in his young career.

Jamie Donley stole the headlines for Tottenham’s U18s with a stunning strike against Norwich City at Hotspur Way today in a 3-0 win.

The striker picked up the ball just inside the Canaries half and spotted the goalkeeper off his line before unleashing a brilliant effort with his favoured left foot which found the back of the net.

The 17-year-old is the latest in a line of impressive attacking talents in north London following Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott.

Donley has recently been seen training with Antonio Conte’s first team on occasions as he continues to further his footballing education.

SpursWeb Opinion

Donley showed great technique and awareness with his goal to not only look up to check the positioning of the keeper, but also the ability to execute it.

Hopefully, he can continue to impress and make the step up to score regularly for the U23s and he could soon follow Scarlett and Parrott in heading out on loan.

This has forced the Italian to deploy Ivan Perisic as a forward in Tottenham’s last two clashes against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

Harry Kane, who has had to start every single game across all competition so far this season, looked extremely lacklustre at the City Ground on Wednesday, with Conte admitting after the game that the England captain was “really really tired” ahead of the encounter (talkSPORT).

[See image gallery at www.spurs-web.com] It looks like the 53-year-old has decided to look towards the academy set up for attacking reinforcements, with Donley seen training with the first team at Hotspur Way in the training video shared on social media by Sky Sports Football Daily.

The 17-year-old is highly thought of at Spurs and has three goal contributions in the five UEFA Youth League games he has played this season (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Conte is even reluctant to hand minutes to the likes of Bryan Gil and Djed Spence, there is no way that Donley will get any minutes. I fully expect Harry Kane to start again on Saturday as it does not appear as if the likes of Richarlison and Kulusevski are fit enough to start yet.
