Tottenham assistant head coach, Cristian Stellini, was impressed with Pedro Porro’s performance this afternoon against Wolves, despite the 1-0 defeat.
Spurs’ newest signing has now started three games in Lilywhite colours, losing 4-1 to Leicester City, 1-0 to Sheffield United in the FA Cup, and 1-0 to Wolves today. Not the best start for the right-wing-back.
While Porro failed to impress in his first two outings, the former Sporting Lisbon man performed much better today, both offensively and defensively.
The Spaniard rattled the crossbar with a near-perfect free-kick and had a couple of other good shooting chances throughout the match as he looked to influence the Spurs attack.
Defensively, Porro looked a little more solid, especially when compared to the horror show that was the 4-1 drubbing against Leicester.
Of course, some players take a little longer than others to adapt to the speed and physicality of the Premier League.
When asked about Porro’s performance, Stellini said (Football London): “Pedro Porro played a good game like all the team.
“We know Pedro Porro is this type of player.
“We need to help him to adapt himself to a new league but today he was important for us.
“The only thing is be ready, nasty and aggressive in the way you have to kill the game.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
I’m sure that Porro will continue to improve as he finds his feet in a new league.
Emerson and Porro actually provide some nice attack vs defence balance for the rest of the season, but Spurs need to find a way to improve their consistency.
