Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now plotting a sensational double swoop for Wolves duo Julen Lopetegui and Matt Hobbs to fill their head coach and sporting director roles respectively.
Multiple publications have revealed over the last week that Spurs are now focused on appointing a new sporting director to replace Fabio Paratici before resuming their managerial search (Daily Mirror).
However, if Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, the North London club could fill both positions in one go as they look to raid Wolves for Lopetegui and Hobbs.
Lopetegui has impressed since taking over at Wolves last November, taking the club from rock bottom to the relative comfort of midtable.
The report states that the Spaniard ticks a lot of boxes for Spurs and the fact that he has now demonstrated that his methods can work in the Premier League could further boost his candidacy.
Meanwhile, Hobbs was only promoted to the sporting director role at Wolves last November, having worked his way up the ranks at Molineux from the academy to the first team.
However, it is explained that he is very highly rated in footballing circles and that Spurs could now look to poach the Englishman.
Spurs Web Opinion
Lopetegui has done a decent job at Molineux Stadium and one can argue that Wolves have overachieved this season, given the quality of their squad in comparison to some of the teams around them.
However, their football has been far from inspiring and they have struggled to create too many chances, which is why I do not see the Spaniard as a good fit for the profile Spurs are reportedly after.
