CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has said that Tottenham Hotspur are currently leading the race for Bristol City starlet Alex Scott, along with Wolves.
Tottenham completed the acquisition of James Maddison from Leicester City in a £40m deal earlier this week but reports indicate that the North London club might not be done reinforcing the middle of the park.
On Wednesday, Sami Mokbel said on the Last World On Spurs that Ange Postecolgou’s men could sign another attacking midfielder or a number six this summer.
One man they could turn to is Scott, who has emerged as the best young talent in the EFL over the last couple of years.
In fact, Football.London reported just last week that Tottenham have asked to be kept informed about the 19-year-old’s situation but the outlet claimed that several other Premier League clubs also have their eye on the youngster.
Tottenham and Wolves are leading the Alex Scott race
Jacobs has now told Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel that as things stand, Spurs and Wolves are the front-runners for Scott’s signature, even though other clubs are also monitoring the youngster.
The journalist added it would take a bid of around £25m to lure the teenager away from Ashton Gate Stadium.
Spurs Web Opinion
There is no doubt that Postecoglou would need another attacking midfielder apart from James Maddison, given how important a number eight is to the Australian’s system.
Unless the Spurs boss believes that one of Lo Celso or Ndombele can be part of his plans (which appears unlikely), a move for Scott would make perfect sense as not only can the 19-year-old learn as Maddison’s understudy but he can also operate as a number six.
