Alasdair Gold has revealed via Football.London that the fee Bayern Munich will pay for Harry Kane could rise to £120m if certain add-ons are met.
Following several hiccups, Kane’s move to Bayern is now finally expected to go through, with Fabrizio Romano taking to social media a few hours ago to give his ‘here we go’ seal of approval for the transfer.
Romano revealed that the total fee agreed between the two clubs is worth €120m (£103.7m) including add-ons.
The Times have also reported a similar figure, putting the fee at around £100m and adding that Tottenham will receive a significant portion of the fee upfront.
Harry Kane is set to fetch an eye-watering amount
Gold has now become the latest journalist to state that Kane is ‘closing in’ on a move to the Bavarian giants.
However, he asserted that the transfer fee is even higher than the figures reported by other sources, claiming that Bayern will pay an initial £100m to Spurs and a further £20m down the line if some add-ons are met.
Spurs Web Opinion
Getting a potential £120m for a player with one year left in his contract is fantastic business and one can argue that it makes up for the fact that the deal was pushed until late on.
Some Spurs fans are angry at Levy for the sale as they had got their hopes up that the striker would say but in reality, it would have been negligent for the Spurs chairman to turn down £120m and allow Kane to join a Premier League rival on a free transfer next summer.
The challenge for Tottenham now is to spend the money wisely and bring in suitable replacements in order to cover as well as possible for the 30-year-old’s loss.
