The Guardian have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will make an attempt to raid their London rivals for Conor Gallagher, who is also of interest to Bayern Munich.
Over the past 24 hours, multiple outlets (Daily Mail and The Times) have claimed that Spurs could make a move to sign Gallagher if they manage to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
This morning, The Telegraph suggested that with Chelsea set to secure Cole Palmer from Manchester City, they could be tempted to sell Gallagher if Tottenham make a £50m offer for the player.
Strong chance of Gallagher leaving Chelsea
The Guardian have now gone a step further and asserted that there is no ‘ a strong chance’ that the 23-year-old will leave Stamford Bridge before tomorrow’s 11 pm deadline.
The report claims that Spurs are set to make a late move for Gallagher and could be challenged by Bayern Munich, with Thomas Tuchel said to be keen on bolstering his options in the middle of the park.
The outlet adds that while the England international is not in a rush to leave, the Blues might force him to do so if they receive the right offer, given that the midfielder has just two years left on his contract.
Spurs Web Opinion
While £50m is a steep fee for a player who is perhaps yet to consistently prove himself at the highest level, that is the going price for talented, young, homegrown players in the current market.
Gallagher would represent a significant upgrade over Hojbjerg in Ange’s system and the Spurs head coach will fancy his chances of getting the best out of the 23-year-old.
