Last week, Tottenham finally broke their 18-month transfer drought by signing the highly-rated young winger, Jack Clarke, from Leeds United (BBC).
The 18-year-old joined on a £10m initial deal, which could rise to £11.5m after add-ons. However, Clarke will now rejoin Leeds United on loan for the 2019/20 season in order to help his progress.
It was unlikely that Clarke would have walked in as a first team regular, so this seems to be a deal that suits all three parties.
However, Spurs may not be done with Leeds United just yet, as a former Tottenham player has tipped the North London club to go for another young star.
Darren Bent claims that Leeds midfield man Kalvin Phillips could easily move to Tottenham this summer, as he has earned Premier League status.
The ex-striker believes that Tottenham are crying out for a player who can sit in the holding role like Phillips.
Phillips played 44 games for Leeds last season, with the 23-year-old currently under contract until 2021.
He said (Football Insider): “I’d like to see Kalvin Phillips move on, he’s earned that Premier League status.
“He can go to Spurs, quite easily. That holding role, getting about the pitch and making tackles and that, I can see him at Tottenham easily.
“They’re crying out for that player, so I can see him going there and he might not start straight away, might have to bide his time, but I can guarantee you once he gets in there he won’t come out.”
