The links between Tottenham and Leeds continue to grow in this summer transfer window.
HITC previously reported that Cameron Carter-Vickers could be an ideal replacement for outgoing Leeds central defender Pontus Jansson, and Spurs also signed and loaned back Jack Clarke for the season (BBC).
And now, current reports are showing that Spurs have shown an interest in Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips (The Mirror).
Phillips has started to turn a few heads, with Aston Villa already entered a starting bid of £11m. However, Leeds are holding strong and have set his valuation at £30m.
In the same report, Newcastle United are said to also be keen on the midfielder’s signature, while Bournemouth and Wolves have cooled their initial interest in the Leeds academy graduate.
It is believed that Phillips is currently earning £10k a week, which in today’s footballing market, isn’t a lot.
Tottenham could easily double his wages, offer him a rotational role and the chance of playing Champions League football.
Spurs Web Opinion:
I can’t see Spurs paying Leeds’ valuation for Phillips, especially with Wanyama and Dier on the cards.
Will one of them be sold to bring in Phillips? He is a versatile midfielder, and Pochettino loves a versatile player.
